Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) based on the ACTH(4-10) fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone. Like Selank, it carries a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro extension intended to slow enzymatic degradation, and it has none of the hormonal activity of full-length ACTH.
